We are always looking for good recruits who are looking for a permanent home. If you're just looking for some suckers to help you level up so you can take off for some other guild or game, don't bother. You won't be happy here. But if you're looking to become part of a small, zany, hardcore-casual group of friends who game-hop together and spend an inordinate amount of time in IRC talking about games, you'll fit right in.

So how do you do it? Normally we recruit from friends, family, and people we meet in various MMOs. So get to know us! Hang out with us in IRC. Post on our forums. Join our public channel, if we have one. Come to our events, dungeon with us, RP with us. Your goal is to convince someone in the guild to vouch for you.

Once you've secured a sponsor, the recruiting officer will add you to the guild on a provisional basis for a week or two, and your primary task will be to introduce yourself on the forum using the application template at the bottom of this page. The active guild members will ultimately be deciding whether you'll become a full member, so you'll want to get to know the whole gang -- you could consider running an event or posting an RP story to further that along. Sometimes we even have a special recruit uniform! Talk to your sponsor or the recruiting officer to determine if anything special required of you in the game in which you're joining up with us -- it's the sponsor's job to facilitate this process.

After your provisional membership is up, the recruiting officer will hold a vote, which can be won by a simple majority of active members (assuming no negative votes were cast) or by a three-quarters margin of the same should dissensions arise. If the vote goes poorly, if too many people abstain due to lack of information, or if there are multiple negative votes, the recruiting officer will try to sort out the problems with the involved parties. Sometimes we have to admit that someone isn't right for us (or we're not right for you). And sometimes you just need more time to get to know people, which is perfectly fine. We're aiming for consensus.

But if the members think you should be one of us, we'll hook you up with member rights and permissions, and you'll be a full Moonie! In some games, we even hold an in-game ceremony to commemorate the occasion, a tradition that started way back in 1997.

We realize we're asking a lot more than guilds that just invite every random person. We're also asking for very different things than a classic raiding or RP guild (we don't care about your DPS, and we do care who you are IRL).

Once you've secured a sponsor, you should create a post on our public forums introducing yourself and letting us know (at minimum) the following:

Who's your sponsor? How did you meet him or her?
Tell us about your favorite MMO characters, games, gaming style, guild history, etc.
Tell us about the real you! What's your name, where do you live, how old are you, what do you do for a living, what other hobbies you enjoy... that kinda thing.
Every member gets a @jademoon.org email alias -- what would you like, and to what email address should it point?
